Getting to Know Cameron Fleet, Podiatrist

December 18, 2014

I love my job because… I get to help people achieve their goals. One of mine is to qualify for the Hawaiian Iron Man competition. Everyone needs goals; it is what keeps us going.

What inspires you to get up everyday? Definitely my thirst for knowledge. When I was a young chap, I would annoy my parents with the ‘but why’ questions. I now ask myself these questions, and am always in pursuit of the answer.

When I’m not at Podiatry Point, you will find me… lacing up my runners and pounding the pavement. I am not an indoors kind of person, so you will most likely find me outside doing something active!

What is your career highlight? Certainly completing my studies and beginning my career as a Podiatrist was a big highlight.

My main passion within Podiatry is… paediatrics and the sporting aspects of podiatry. I find the area of high-risk wound care particularly interesting as well. I have been fortunate to work at a number of high-risk wound care areas in Australia and New Zealand, as well as volunteering as a course podiatrist for the Oxfam Trail Walks, which has provided the opportunity to assess and treat a wide variety of cases.

My mission in life… don’t look back, you’re not going that way!

So what’s next, where do you see yourself in the future? Continuing to train for the Hawaiian Iron Man competition and providing a fun and educational service to each of my patients and help them achieve their goals.
